The Joint Commission launched a sweeping new survey approach called Accreditation 360: The New Standard, which took effect Jan. 1, 2026. While the restructuring is extensive, the standards themselves have not been eliminated but rather consolidated and revised, with compliance standards reduced by nearly 50%, from more than 1,500 to more than 700, reorganized into broader categories. A brand new Survey Process Guide also replaced the longtime Survey Activity Guide, serving as a unified resource for both surveyors and organizations and incorporating 14 National Performance Goals focused on measurable patient safety outcomes.

The achievement spans the 2025-2026 survey cycle and covers partner facilities across the country, from large metropolitan health systems to standalone hospitals, representing a broad cross-section of perioperative environments. The achievement is notable in an industry where, according to The Joint Commission, deficiencies are found in nearly three in four hospital surveys.
